"Despite having worked for the past 4 years, I have never been in a position where I was able to save up much money due to living on my own and supporting people close to me. Worrying less about bills and more about how I can do my best in school is, I think, essential in me being able to achieve what I want in life. I really appreciate the support."

"My main goal in life is to be an independent game developer, either working solo or with a small team to create fun and meaningful experiences for people. It's been a dream of mine since I was a child and, although I did learn a lot of skills towards that through my IT Programming program, I'm choosing to take the full dive into Game Programming and development at NSCC so I can be in an environment where I can focus more on my passion. Being able to attend NSCC with other students interested in game development, live near campus, and fully dedicate my energy to growing my skills and making games feels like my life is finally moving in a direction again instead of stagnating at a corporate position just to afford living in Halifax."

"Thank you for this bursary. I am eager to use this opportunity to grow, give back, and continue honoring my African Nova Scotian heritage and supporting mental health. In wanting a career in game development I hope to design games that celebrate diversity and race as well as challenge body shaming."
