Student learning opportunities
Donor funding to the Extraordinary Learning Fund supports learning opportunities outside of the classroom to help students across the province by applying their skills through practical learning, participating in program-related field trips or hearing from expert guest speakers.
This year, students from Marconi Campus’ Early Childhood Education program were given the unique opportunity in their Aesthetics and Creativity class to partake in an experiential workshop with a well-known local artist, Nancy Chiasson.
They learned about the importance of encouraging and supporting self-expression when working with kids to provide a safe space to embrace imagination, patience and creativity. This type of immersive learning was only made possible through our Extraordinary Learning Fund.
Through this fund, faculty and campuses can offer expansive learning opportunities to students so they can embed themselves in their communities and fields of work.

“Participating in this workshop showed me the real meaning of process over product. I feel like by putting myself in the position of a child, working on something I’ve never done before, I’ve gotten a better understanding of how art provocations in ECE classrooms should be done.”
