Message from NSCC International
It’s an honour to celebrate the incredible international achievements of the past year showcased in this NSCC International Results Report—a powerful reflection of our shared commitment to global learning and collaboration. I’m excited to highlight some of the transformative initiatives that are making a lasting impact including:
- NSCC ranking #1 in “Career Goal Preparedness”, “Recommendation” and “Value for Money” in the 2024 International Barometer Survey of international students from colleges and universities around the world.
- NSCC’s International Partnership conference held in October 2024 with partner colleges from The Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Germany, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Kenya, St. Lucia, and Tanzania.
- NSCC’s second international indigenous learning program, in partnership with North Island College and Northern Lights College, in Costa Rica; A film documenting this program will be featured at the Devour Film Festival in October 2025.
- The fourth cohort of the Culture Entrepreneurship Leadership and Professional Skills (CELPS) exchange program for Black students and employees in partnership with TA Marryshow Community College in Grenada.
- Two new technical assistance projects: KBEST 13 focussed on marine training with NSCC’s Nautical Institute, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Bandari Maritime Academy and the Railway Training Institute in Kenya; and the South Africa Skills Training Enhancement Program (SASTEP) in South Africa.
- Funding diversification with European exchange partners including NSCC’s Erasmus + Exchange program with students and faculty from 7 partner institutions focussed on inclusion, digitization and sustainability (BIDS project); exchanges with German partners BS 27 in Hamburg and btg in Gelsenkirchen, and the Azubis – Joachim Herz Foundation (JHS) exchange program.
- NSCC’s ongoing partnership with the World University Service of Canada’s (WUSC) Student Refugee Program (sponsoring one refugee student per year to study at NSCC) and the WUSC Leave for Change program (sponsoring one employee per year to volunteer their services to a capacity building project often focussed on refugee programming).
