Celebrating women in science and technology

Each month, women and non-binary staff in RIWD meet through a group called RISE which stands for resilience, inclusivity, support and empowerment. It’s a safe space to share experiences, celebrate achievements and plan future initiatives.

To mark the UN International Day of Women and Girls in Science, RISE hosted a special panel discussion with NSCC research staff and participants from Women Unlimited, a program that supports diverse women exploring careers in science, trades and technology. The discussion highlighted both the challenges and opportunities for women working in science and technology and why building early awareness to a range of career paths in STEM is important for long-term equity.
