Helping students when they need it most, thanks to your support

Responding to the rapidly changing needs of students is crucial in supporting their education. Thanks to our incredible donors and campus communities, the College has assisted students with access to housing and food security, along with emergency financial aid through Urgent Aid and Rapid Response.

Thanks to our incredible donors and campus communities, the College has assisted students with access to housing and food security, along with emergency financial aid through Urgent Aid and Rapid Response.

Emergency Housing Program


Across the province, NSCC is working to provide more housing options and supports. In 2022-23, the program provided:

  • 4 students with access to emergency housing support
  • 48 days of emergency housing
  • One-on-one support to all students entering the emergency housing intake process
  • 2 new emergency housing units in progress for 2023-24

Rapid Response


Addressing the immediate and emerging needs of students through:

  • 30 New Black and African Nova Scotian Cost-of-Living Bursaries
  • $68K Hurricane Fiona Relief Bursaries
  • 185 Donors to Rapid Response

Food Security


Food insecurity is a growing issue for students, impacting their ability to continue their education. NSCC campuses and community partners are taking action to help students access food. Examples include:

  • Annapolis Valley Campus becoming a member of Feed Nova Scotia
  • Truro Campus distributing over $10K in grocery gift cards to students in need
  • IT Campus’ Food for Thought Program serving 3,952 free meals in 2022-23
  • Burridge Campus Food Pantry Program piloted with great success
  • Cumberland Campus Breakfast Program serving over 400 meals to students weekly
